How often should you update your website

"Build it and forget it" is a common story for small business websites. The problem is that visitors notice the "forget it" part faster than you'd think: stale prices, outdated hours, photos of an interior that closed five years ago.

What a website without updates loses

The simplest things go stale first — prices, hours, contact details. Trust follows: a visitor who lands on outdated information is more likely to call a competitor than to double-check by phone. Search engines notice the lack of updates too, and it doesn't help your rankings.

What is worth updating regularly

Not everything needs the same attention. Prices, promotions, and hours — update the moment they change. Photos and portfolio — every few months, to keep the site feeling alive. Copy about the company and services can wait longer, but shouldn't sit untouched for years either.

Why updates usually get put off

It's not laziness — it's friction. Emailing a developer, explaining the task, waiting your turn in the queue, checking the result: that cycle is so inconvenient that small edits just pile up and get postponed. If updating a site were as easy as sending a message, there'd be nothing to put off.

That's exactly what autoSite removes: an edit takes no longer than sending a chat message, so keeping a site current doesn't take any special effort.
